National Adoption Day

Increase Awareness

November 19

Courts across Idaho celebrated National Adoption Day on Nov. 19, 2022. The event was commemorated with a special proclamation signed by Chief Justice G. Richard Bevan.

National Adoption Day is an effort to increase awareness of the children in the nationwide foster care system who are waiting to be adopted. At the time of the proclamation, more than 355 foster children awaited adoption in Idaho.

Events throughout November 2022 included:

  • In Ada County, the Fourth Judicial District held roughly two dozen adoption hearings. Court and county staff donated gift baskets, cakes and books to each newly adopted child after their hearing concludes.
  • In Bannock County, the Sixth Judicial District hosted a celebration featuring an adoption ceremony, refreshments and vendors sharing information about adoption.
  • In Bonneville County, the Seventh Judicial District hosted a variety of speakers talking about adoption and building a family.
